New  Program Helps Expand Climate Smart Markets

In 2024, we were awarded a contract with the Conservation Innovation Fund (CIF) to seed 24,800 acres over 5 years. This program pays for 5 years of anticipated outcomes up front, along with technical support to adopt regenerative agriculture practices like cover crops.

How does it work?

A farmer would need to have a field that has not been cover cropped for at least 3 years. If the field qualifies, the farmer and Swift Aeroseed would enter into a 5 year contract with CIF to pay us as a contractor to seed cover crops on the farm during this period. There would be no out-of-pocket expenses the first year, but the following years a farmer would need to pay for seed. Conveniently, this program can be used to "stack" on top of other cost-share programs. Making it possible to have no out-of-pocket costs for 5 years through these other programs.

The environmental benefits from carbon and water-quality will be sold as credits and the revenue generated from these credits helps cover the costs of implementing the practice. After the 5 years, a farmer has the option to renew contracts for carbon and/or water every 5 years for up to an an additional 15 years and receive these credit payments directly.

Do these credits allow for someone to pollute elsewhere?

No. These credits are unique in that they only exist within a specific supply chain. An entity who buys these credits cannot use them to offset pollution elsewhere their business.

If you know someone who is interested in this program, or you yourself are interested, please contact us to set up an initial meeting
